The month of September was an interesting one for social media companies. They continue to find new ways to stay connected and make your experiences on those platforms as enjoyable as possible.
With that being said, here are some social media updates for September:
With TikTok becoming the new social media king, it is pushing platforms like YouTube and Instagram to respond, and YouTube has responded by creating a new monetary program for Shorts.
The developers at YouTube announced they’ve created the YouTube Partner Program, which is a program that Shorts creators can apply for and provides benefits that can help the creator monetize their content. The program entails that, in order to join the YouTube Partner Program, the content creator must meet certain criteria in order to apply and be accepted for the program. One can apply for this membership by having over 1,000 subscribers, and a healthy views amount of 10 million over a 90-day period.
The revenue sharing program created by YouTube means that ads will run in between Shorts and the revenue generated will be distributed to all of the creators within the program. The YPP program plans to give forty-five percent of the revenue generated, which will be distributed based on the views and followers of each creator.
If you are looking to create shorts for your business, we can help! We offer Instagram as part of our professional package, or you can purchase our Instagram management singularly through our A La Carte services.
LinkedIn is a platform mainly for finding new employees for businesses, and networking for individuals.
They continue to develop new ways for businesses to manage the clutter that comes with communicating with potential prospects. That is why it is important to note that they are launching a new feature for their messenger user interface.
This new feature is called Focused Inbox, which splits communications into two different tabs: “focused” and “other”.
These new categories will sift through communications and separate them by relevance. If the communications are about the business, a business opportunity, or prospective candidates, it will appear in the “focused” tab, and all other communications will be placed within the “other” tab.
If you think that this will be beneficial for you and your business, give it a whirl and see what you think. We also offer management services for your LinkedIn page. Give us a call for more information.
Our third and final update for the month of September is about the most popular platform: Facebook. Facebook is making changes to Marketplace.
Facebook has decided to remove vehicle listings from the platform. This change comes on the back of Facebook seeing that multiple listings of the same vehicle are posted in various locations for different prices.
This decision removes the ability for business pages to post vehicle listings altogether. There’s no telling just how impactful this decision will be, but there is an inkling that the decision was made with Facebook Marketplace ads in mind.
The other issue that plagues the platform is the scam postings in Marketplace. People who use Marketplace criticized the platform for allowing posts to be on the platform and not show the actual price of the item being sold. That will change when they begin removing said posts starting January 30th, 2023.
