Today, we thrive when we use technology in a way that allows us to solve our own problems. Not only that, but we consumers want information in an instant, and being that Google is the most visited website on earth, it goes to show how important it is to be able to give consumers information when they need it. Google is also the world’s largest search engine and, according to Alphabet itself, it amassed a revenue of $257.6 Billion in 2021. That is not by mistake. They offer a product and service that, over time, has become paramount to businesses and consumers. Social media platforms like Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, Instagram, and more are found on Google. In 2021 alone, there were 295.48 million people that have used social media in the United States, so cultivating a reputation on Google is important.
Being that Google is one on the most important tools to enhance the reputation of your business, one thing to always consider is whether there is a Google Business Profile out there already created for your business. If you find it, you can request access to the page. You may be prompted to do a verification. If not, create one. Creating a listing is not difficult, but all the sections on the listing should be filled out if applicable. That’s not always easy if you don’t know how a Google Business Profile works. This article will discuss how to get access to the profile and the major sections of the Google profile and why it is an effective practice to maintain those parts of the profile.
If you already have access to the Google Business Profile, there are some features that are conducive to managing the listing more efficiently. Google has created a feature that allows the people who have access to their business profile to edit the business information from the Google Search page, as well as the Google Maps app. Log into your Gmail, then go to the Google Search page. Type in “my business” and you should see your listing on the right-hand side. Click “Edit your business information.” It is a convenient way to edit or alter the listing from the outside.
As you’ll notice in the photo – this is a Google listing from a desktop perspective. You see the name of the business, as well as other things like website, directions, and call – all tabs that show when the correct information is added to a Google business profile, will make it easy for people who search for you to find or connect with your business.
Consumers can suggest edits to a listing if they have found some conflicting information regarding your business. If you don’t have access to the business profile or have access and need to provide someone with access, sign into your Gmail account (If you have one. Make one if you don’t) and go to Google.com/business.
Go to the top right corner and click “Sign In.”
Signing in will allow you to search for your business using the name or address. You can also create a business listing if one doesn’t exist. If you find it, you can request access to the page. You may be prompted to do a verification. Make sure to follow the directions to verify the listing. After claiming the business profile, the next page will let you start adding info to the page. If you are just creating the business profile, you can add all the information and create the Google listing that way. On the inside of the listing, you’ll notice tabs on the left and the listing info in the middle. You can edit the information from there, too.
As a business owner, it is important to establish a reputation for great customer care and no-hassle repair and maintenance. That cannot be achievable if the plan isn’t created and then executed.
