Posting for the Holidays

Optimize Digital Marketing
October 27, 2022

The season of ghouls, goblins, and other monsters is fast approaching, and social media will be full of posts of everyone’s best costumes. Parents will be taking their kids out for trick-or-treating, and businesses may decorate their buildings to show some Halloween spirit.

Halloween, like all national holidays, comes once a year, and creating content around something that comes only once a year may be difficult. Pretty soon, snow and the bitter cold will fill the sky and the ground of the northern states, and that means that holidays like Christmas and New Years are upon us.

That is what we are here to help with! Not only will this piece discuss Halloween posting, but it will also discuss posting for all holidays to ensure that your business is prepared to create relevant content that will appeal to your target audience, as well as future customers, and so on.

During the holidays, social media traffic increases by 73%. That increase stems from e-commerce, as well as brick and mortar sales. Major brands use social media to promote their products and inform consumers about upcoming sales, events, etc. This increase in traffic can be used to increase traffic to your shop using fun, engaging content to attract your audience. You could also use ads to push services and tailor the content around the specific holiday.

This is an example of a Halloween post from one of our clients, Chickasaw Garage Inc. As you will notice in the post, the caption encourages engagement by asking to comment on their favorite Halloween candy and share the post to win a prize. You can also see the amount of engagement from the post.

These kinds of posts are a terrific way to reach your audience and get them involved with your business. There are plenty of other types of content that you could post on the social platforms of your business. We will now discuss what works, as well as some other content ideas to grab the attention of your audience.

Where To Start

Every business is different. Every business has its own audience, but the one thing that all businesses have in common is that they all want more traffic through their doors. Attracting their attention is easy, keeping their attention is difficult, time consuming, and stressful.

The most important thing to remember about all posts is that they must be timely and relevant to what you want to achieve during that holiday. They are also more sharable than normal content, so making it fun and relevant is key.

During the holidays, people may be more apt to post content like gifts, family photos, or other festive things. As it pertains to purchasing, one in three people are influenced by social media to make purchases during the holidays, meaning that posts like ads, specials, and merchandise can influence your audience make purchases.

In states where the weather gets cold and snowy, we have holidays that happen during the winter months like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. This is a wonderful opportunity to create posts for service reminders, shop decorations, and to offer help to your audience. These posts will be received well by your audience because they appreciate that companies, big or small, are willing to assist them in their time of need. They also like being reminded of things that they may want to do or think they should do. Lastly, they love to see companies show off their festive spirits,

Any way you do it, Holiday posting is a fantastic way to connect and engage with your target audience, but there may be limitations to it, so if you have questions about how we can best serve your business, call our team. We are happy to discuss how our digital media solutions can take your business to the next level.
