Best Posting Practices and Content for Facebook & Instagram

This blog discusses how you can make the Instagram or Facebook page more interesting and potentially increase following by creating more interesting content.


As the years pass, social media evolves to meet the entertainment expectations of modern society. It is interesting to think about how pop culture has evolved and continues to instantly provide current trends. The virality of a single photograph or video varies based on the popularity or collective interest in that content. Just look at Instagram and Facebook.


They both do different things, but viral content is shared on both, and the same content at that. Facebook is more of a platform that works best for people want to know what others are doing. Instagram is different in that the platform is more content driven.


The same viral photos or videos end up on there but, for the most part, Instagram is content based, so it is important to focus on that, because that’s what users have come to expect. Facebook on the other hand, will require a different focus, and that is exactly what will be discussed in this blog. I will be highlighting both platforms, and then I will be discussing what you should consider posting on the social media pages of your business.



Worthy Instagram Content

Instagram is an extremely diverse platform. You can find anything from sports, to cars, food, and so much more. It has a healthy split in users from 13 and older. The female population accounts for 55% of the Instagram user population in the United States, while the male population of Instagram users accounts for 45%. With that split, one can assume that the content will vary.


Hootsuite created an article highlighting creative ideas for posting. Here’s a list of some of those ideas:


  • Show off your services or products (if applicable). Make sure to use interesting captions and hashtags and discuss what you are trying to promote.
  • Using Instagram Reels. Create interesting videos. An example would be to create a short video of a technician performing an oil change.
  • Show a before and after of a particular job.
  • Share user-generated content. Share post of customers who posted about your business.


And the beauty of it all is that Instagram has now came out with a new feature that allows you to pin posts on your Instagram page. What this means is that, when you pin a post, the post will sit at the top of your post so that people who visit the page will see those posts first. Worthy Facebook Content

Facebook, as I said earlier, requires a different type of content. People go on Facebook for different reasons. Facebook does a lot more than just allowing a business to post content. You can post products on Facebook Marketplace; you can create community pages, events, fundraisers, and so much more.


 According to Statista, mobile phones are the most common tool to use Facebook. In fact, over 97% of Facebook users in the United States use a mobile phone. Quarter one of 2022 has seen an increase in monthly active users in the United States and Canada. Quarter four of 2021 had 262 million users, while quarter one of 2022 accrued 263 million active users.


With these statistics in mind, we can look at what content should or could be posted on your business’ Facebook page.


There are some things to consider when posting to your business page, though. Make sure that your content is not only engaging, but it must also be consistent in terms of the content you choose to post. People follow pages based on the content they post or the industry your business is in. Also, the timing of your posting is important too. You can post content when most of your followers are on Facebook.


Here is a list of ideas you can use to create content that is compelling, interesting, and can result in more followers and more engagement:


  • In your post, ask questions that engage your audience. Your audience can respond and provide insight as to what they may want to see on your page or how they feel about your business. Giving your audience a voice may assist in garnering a large following on your page.
  • You can share things about your business or staff. Telling stories about your business is a great way for your following and audience to learn more about your business.
  • You can use branded graphics for a wide variety of different purposes. It can be used for anything, such as memes, business news, relevant types.
  • Videos, videos, and more videos. Followers are more likely to watch a video then reading.
  • Share photos of your staff performing services or any products that your business sells or uses. First, make sure to get permission from those brands before posting to avoid potential copyright infringement.


These are tips that one can use to post to their personal or business page.
