How to Unlink Facebook and Instagram Accounts

On the Facebook App

1. After opening the Facebook app, tap on the Menu icon at the bottom right corner of your screen. It looks like three horizontal bars.
2. Click on Settings (Android) or Settings & Privacy (iOS) and then tap Settings.
3. Tap on Accounts Center and scroll down to Accounts. Here you will see the profiles that are linked to your account.
4. To unlink Instagram, tap Remove next to the profile icon of the account that you want to unlink.
5. The system will then prompt you to confirm the action. Click Continue. If both your Facebook and Instagram accounts use the same password to log in, it might also prompt you to change the password for one of the accounts.

On the Facebook Website

1. Log into your account and then click on your profile icon at the top right corner of your screen.
2. From the drop-down menu, click on Settings & Privacy and then follow the same steps listed above.

Unlinking an Instagram Profile from Your Account

Just like with Facebook, you can unlink your accounts using either the Instagram website or app, and the instructions are slightly different for each.

On the Instagram App

1. Tap on your profile icon located in the bottom right corner.
2. Tap on the menu icon on the top right, the three horizontal bars, and then tap Settings and Privacy.
3. Tap Accounts Center, scroll down to Account Settings, and then tap Accounts.
4. To unlink Facebook from Instagram, tap Remove next to the profile icon of the account you want to unlink.
5. The app will then prompt you to confirm the action. Click Continue. Again, you may need to change a password.

On the Web

1. To unlink an account from your Instagram on the web, log into the website and click on More in the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. From the menu, click on Settings and then Accounts Center.
3. Click on Accounts and then click Remove next to the profile icon of the account you want to unlink.
4. Confirm the action, if prompted, as well as the password change.
