Changing Tides in a Sea of Content

Discussing the changes that Facebook has made to hiring ads and the potential effectiveness

Hiring has been a major struggle for most of the country over the last couple years. We have seen many businesses go from prosperity and success, to struggling to pay bills and employees, and to closing their doors entirely. It’s not just about hiring, it is also about the job market and people’s willingness to work, or even to try working in a different industry altogether. If there was ever a time where a person can change their career with less effort, the last two years have proved to be the time. All these factors have become increasingly more common, and the automotive industry, unfortunately, has not been shielded from those potential fates.

In this industry, your employees make the difference between owning a reputable, profitable, and respectable business, and a fledgling business with a poor reputation. They are the first faces consumers see when they enter a business. And that is why it is so important to create hiring ads that grab the attention of potential candidates and that reach a large amount of potential.

As it stands, the United States sits at a healthy 3.6% unemployment, which is down 2.4% from April of 2021. The state of Minnesota, the home state of OSM/ODM, has a respectable unemployment rate of 2.2% as of April. If you compare those same statistics with the statistics from April of 2021, you will notice that the unemployment rate for Minnesota was 3.5%, which means the unemployment rate has dropped by 1.3%.

So, overall, the job marketplace seems to have corrected itself but, there are people out there still searching for jobs that they may not have been able to get pre-COVID-19. If you own a business and are looking to hire, Facebook may be the best place to advertise the position. Let’s look at how those Facebook job ads have changed and what you should be privy to.

Facebook ads have changed quite a bit, and hiring ads on Facebook are no different. There’s no longer a place where you can search for jobs in Facebook. According to Facebook, if one is searching for a job, they must go to the Facebook page of a specific company that they are looking to work at, and then they must find the position within the page. If the company that the person searched for has a job listing, you should see the jobs tab in the left column of the page. If they do not have that tab, then no job has been posted to the page. When a person applies for the position, the applicant’s information will show up in the messages section of the Facebook business page.

There is one problem with job postings on Facebook, though. The problem stems from the fact that Facebook has recently done away with the public jobs section, so your job listing will not have the exposure it once had. The goal with this change is to encourage business owners to pay for job ads on Facebook to reach a larger audience.

If you create a job listing and you do not participate in boosting the listing as a job ad, then the listing will only be available to the people that follow your business page, unless the listing is shared by someone who wants their friends to know about the position. The best way to make sure that your audience is reached is by backing your job listings by creating objectives and paying for those ads to meet those objectives.
